Side Quests and Korok Seeds

Related imageThere will be a point in the game when you have nothing left to do because you have done all the shrines and defeated Calamity Ganon. Well like most games, there are side quests! There is a total of 76 side quests from just getting the game. The DLC (Downloadable Content) adds a lot more side quests. These quests are optional, hence why they are called side quests. Even though side quests are in fact optional, early game they can be a source of Rupees, the game currency.

Finding all of the side quests can be a annoying at first but the majority of the side quests are at villages or at stables, with a few scattered here and there. There are three main things that a side quests will make you do: collect something for them, kill something for them, or complete a task for them. There may be a few exceptions but most side quests are about that. Once you have completed a side quests, it will show on your screen with a competed sign; when getting one, it will still show on the screen just without a completed sign.

Now if you are going for 100% and had completed all the side quests, well you would have only done around 40% of the game in total. This is because there are more collectibles in the game: Korok Seeds. Korok seeds are given to the player after finding a hidden korok. Koroks themselves are invisible until you do a certain task to make them show where they are hiding. These tasks include jumping into a ring of flowers in water, picking up a rock which can be hidden underneath leaves, shooting a balloon, racing somewhere, following a flower, collecting flowers in order, and picking up a single fruit from trees lined up in a row.

Another thing that makes them annoying is the fact that there are 900 Koroks that need to be found to be able to get 100% in the game. If you do not think that Koroks are not important and do not do anything to help you; well that is true and false at the same time. The first 441 korok seeds are used to upgrade your weapon slots: Swords, Bows, and Shields. This is done by going to a giant Korok named Hestu after completing his side quest on the way to Kakariko Village. Hestu will upgrade your weapon slots at the starting price of 1 korok seed per slot for that category. This slowly goes up in price to 2 then 3 and then 5; in a Fibonacci type pattern.
