The Sheikah Slate

The Sheikah Slate is one of Link's, and the players, best tool and can possibly be a decent weapon when all else fails. This doesn't mean that Link will go up to enemies and whack them with his Sheikah Slate as funny as that would be, but in the use of Runes as stated in last blog post.

Although runes is one of the most useful aspects of the Sheikah Slate when the player is fighting enemies or in shrines, the Sheikah Slate has many more uses. One use is to see the map, which can be very important. On the map, the player is able to place stickers to mark locations that they may want to visit later in life. The player can also place beacons which will show up on the miniature mini-map in game which can help the player get to a place without stopping to check their map every two seconds.

Weapons, Shields, and Bows all have a max amount of spots that can be filled up but can be upgraded to give more space in a tedious manner. Everything that is a material that Link can pick up is able to be stored in the Sheikah Slate until you have 999 of that item. Cooked food does have a max amount of spaces that can be used to store items which is 60 items.

There is also a camera rune that the player can get, with this ultimate rune Link can finally — take picture. There is a spot in the Sheikah Slate for some of the pictures that the player took around the world and can be added to the Hyrule Compendium. The compendium is a collection of all the materials, weapons, enemies, animals, and treasures located in Breath of the Wild; just in picture form that is.

Having things in picture form in the Hyrule Compendium can be useful if you got the upgrade for the Sheikah Sensor +. The normal Sheikah Sensor is a tool that Nintendo put in the game to help players find shrines much easier. The Sheikah Sensor + works the same as the normal Sheikah Sensor but this time you can use pictures from your Compendium to track.

Now the last few things that the game offers in a form of a tool is a temperature gauge and a sound meter and time of day with weather. The temperature gauge gets goes down when you enter a cold region or up when you enter a hot region. if you do nothing when Link is cold or hot, you will start to take damage. To make sure that you don't freeze or overheat the game will give an indicator when Link is either cold or hot, just remember to dress appropriately. The sound meter will show how much sound you are making, the less sound you make the more stealthier you are and the more sound you make the less stealthier you are. The time of day is self explanatory, enemies sleep during night, awake during day. The weather is also self explanatory, lightning will hit you if you have any metal on and you will slip down anything you are trying to climb when it is raining.
